Liz Van Dort was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. She started her singing career as a lead soloist with the Australian Children's Choir, before going on to study classical singing extensively with some of Melbourne's top teachers. She then became interested in multicultural music as part of an anthropology degree at university, and started performing songs from around the world using different styles and sounds.
Liz then switched to jazz, pop, folk and funk bands and built up a reputation as a top-notch, technically proficient singer and recording artist. In the UK she worked on recording projects with artists such as Sting, Peter Gabriel and more. Record releases in the UK and France and tours and performances in Europe followed.
Liz is currently working on a new CD, and is also developing her interest in screen composition after some of her vocal recordings were used on TV and in short films. She also appears in upcoming Australian feature film 'Coffin Rock'.
